A unique Nenets-Russian mathematics dictionary is prepared in Yamal
(IA Sever-Press, 29 December 2006) -- The possibility of teaching mathematics in two languages – Russian and Nenets – is being realized for the first time in the history of development of people’s education in Yamal. By the information given to the correspondent of IA “Sever-Press” by the deputy of the chief of Yamal-Nenets regional institute of increasing the qualification of education employees, Valentina Nyaruy, preparation of the unique Nenets-Russian mathematic dictionary can be called the event of the year. Its author is the methodologist of the institute Svetlana Yezyngi. She collected her dynamic elaboration over several decades. Working with small children in Yamal boarding school, the pedagogue-innovator came to a conclusion that teaching mathematics not only in Russian but native language as well contributes to motivation to study. It occurred to be that all numbers, vocabulary and mathematic terms are easily translated to Nenets language by children. In the result, children receive big amount and quality of knowledge. In opinion of Valentina Nyaruy, the elaboration of the Nenets teacher opens perspectives of inculcation of two-language system to teaching of all school subjects.
