Goalsetting

The older members of the YOA Junior Program will be working with a sports psych trainer this year. As I am coaching these kids, I have been sitting in on the sessions. Most of the kids are also skiers, so this is essentially the start of the season for them. One of the first tasks was to do some goalsetting. Tracey created these great goalsetting forms for the kids to fill out. I set my seasonal goals back in October but there were a few elements of this form, dealing with weekly and daily goals, that I really liked and will try to incorporate. I love the idea of having a "theme" for the week. I guess I have always done this but it is good to do it formally and have the document to remind you. The evaluation of how well the goals were carried out using numbers is really nice, too. Something that I really need to work on is trying to achieve a level of balance between sport and the rest of my life.

I filled out the form, too. It is good to share your goals with people. I think you immediately become more committed to them if others know about them. My major goals are to win at COCs, NAOCs and to make the WOC final.

I also wrote a bit on Training Camp Goals before heading down to Vancouver in February.
Here is a previous entry on some other useful documents.
