Helping Out

Cycling across Canada has often been used as a means to assist with various charitable causes. While I am not involved in a formal fundraising effort I do want to acknowledge my good fortune to be in a position to undertake this trip. Therefore it is my intention to make donations to a couple of charities.

The first organization that I shall be supporting is the Mae Bachur Animal Shelter, the Humane Society Yukon home for dogs and cats awaiting adoption. This cause is near and dear to the heart of one of my chief supporters (see Yukon page).

The second organization is The Ride To Conquer Cancer, a 3 day cycling event to raise money for The Princess Margaret which is a world class cancer research hospital in Toronto. A good friend whose family has been touched by cancer will be riding in this event and I would like to lend my support.

In both cases, I plan to take my best day's total kilometers covered and multiply by a dollar amount. This will be incentive to see just how far I can pedal in one day.

Stay tuned for updates on my 'best daily distance' and if you are in a position of good fortune and so inclined, please lend your support to a cause that is meaningful to you.
