(Karen Edwards/EOC Development Google Group, 22 June 2009) -- A group of young, international, polar researchers with a shared
commitment to outreach and education have created the Polar Resource Book
as an IPY legacy and a response to continued teacher requests for polar
information. Two chapters require the assistance of the IPY research
and EOC community.
The authors are hereby soliciting contributions of
practical learning activities for the classroom/learning environment
accompanied by personal stories from youth, educators, and
scientists who participated in or developed the associated projects.
The authors are also seeking descriptions/accounts of successful outreach initiatives to demonstrate the breadth of outreach approaches and
projects/programs/initiatives inspired by IPY and to encourage readers to
become actively engaged in scientific outreach and polar education.
If you have material that might be suitable for either chapter, please see the more detailed information here or behind the headline. Submission forms may be found there, too.
