(Roger Launius's Blog, 24 November 2010) -- I am pleased to announce that the edited collection, Globalizing Polar Science: Reconsidering the International Polar and Geophysical Years, has now appeared. I co-edited this work with James Rodger Fleming and David H. DeVorkin, and it contains 19 chapters relating to the science and politics of polar exploration. It is based on a symposium at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum in 2007 and sponsored by the National Science Foundation, at the time of the fiftieth anniversary of the International Geophysical Year.
