William Kleedehn decided to change the route on Sunday, February 19,
2006. William Kleedehn decided to change the route because there was no
snow in Whitehorse. The workers tell the mushers to turn around in
Pelly. There was a chance to get a big dump of snow in Whitehorse when
the race started so that is why they did not change the route at the
beginning of the race. The new route is from Pelly to Dawson.
The mushers think the new route is crazy. Helaina tells the mushers to turn around in Pelly.
Helaina
works with Laurelie. The race workers plan to make a new trail to
prevent the oncoming teams from crashing. The workers also plan to make
two new check points to replace the ones in Carmacks and Braeburn. The
new check points are going to be on the Stewart River and the Dempster
Highway gas station.
Helaina is going to change the finish
line. The first musher is expected to cross the finish line on
Wednesday, February 22,2006.
