The little man

Taking another swig
Try to forget them problems
To feel worry free
To be a drunken' mess
Burning liquid tickles
My throat aches something horrid
To float away
A dizzy heaven
Cloudy mist blurrs my vision
I try to keep it in
Soar on fresh liquored wings
Accoplish sloppy lust
But I'm grounded by a tiny voice
The sober soul inside
He who knows the consequences
The little man won't leave
Fighting him
Does no good
but does no harm neither
Anger soaked up by the whiskey
He looks up at me straight in them eyes
Green a twinklin'
A tiny grin
And two little dimples
A snazzy lookin fella!
I reach down to 'em
Pluck him like a flower
ripping a leg like a petal
an arm, another too
Simple questions dribble from my lips
Does she love me?
Or love me not?
The little man has answers
Upon the brim of my cup he's pearched
No matter how many times
I throw him off
He always returns to me
Friend or Foe
He truly must care
He's just the little man.

The little man, I can totally imagine him! Do you love him? Does he have an alcohol prob? The imagery is really good. "Soar on fresh liquored wings" is a good metaphor.

I agree with Samantha, "Soar on fresh liquored wings" is an awesome image, but I also like "Simple questions dribble from my lips". Liquid often comes up in the poem, always playing back on the idea of liquor. I'm not sure if this was what you meant by the story, but I get the impression that the little man is actually addiction to alcohol. Like, he's the embodiment of alcohol addiction.
I love the little man! I'm glad to have finally read it for myself because I got a lot more message and meaning out of it. ^^
