The Best things about living in the North

The Best Things about Living in the North

The best thing about living in the north is the beautiful Northern lights, the way they dance in the sky, so many colours above us, coming out at night so silent moving around the distant stars like an obstacle course, fading into darkness.
In Whitehorse we also have a lot of  hills and mountainous areas. Some you could see faintly and most just stand out, higher than the clouds, gigantic and monstrous.  More powerful than the sky it seems and sometimes more powerful than me.
Animals big or small, standing out or hiding, animals are amazing creatures no matter where you're at. Bears, elk, moose, caribou,  and many others that can compare and hard to name.

The Best Thing about the North

The best things about living in the north are lots of rivers and clean lakes to swim in, good water and fresh air.

We have good clean campgrounds and the fish here  are bigger than the ones in the south. The pike here are really big. Also we have a lot of wild animals to see. We also have 4 months of 24 hr daylight. We also have some fun places to hang out. We have a paint ball arena, sports facility and some good skate shops. We also have a dirt bike park and have good trails to hike or bike down and they usually lead to lakes.

The northern lights are  beautiful.  The big mountains and valleys are beautiful too. Another thing is there's a natural hot spring and a rock climbing wall. We also have a snowboard mountain called Mt.Sima.

The Best Things About Living in the North

The best things about living in the north are the snow, wildlife, scenery, and Rendezvous.

I love the snow and to me it`s the best! That`s because before I moved to the Yukon I had lived in Vancouver and those surrounding areas, and all they ever got down there was rain! Besides even if they did get snow it would melt and turn to slush. Believe me it isn`t very fun to play in slush!

Something you almost always see in the Yukon is wildlife. For example if you drive to Atlin or up the Alaska Highway you`ll see moose, bears, caribou, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, grouse (very stupid birds), wolves, and once in a while a porcupine or two.

The first thing you`ll notice about the Yukon if you ever visit here is the scenery, it`s almost everywhere! I mean it`s even outside our classroom window. It`s a very pretty view in the morning, looking at the mountains. Sometimes in the morning behind the mountains the sky is a vibrant  pink mixed with orange.

Every year around February we have Rendezvous. At Rendezvous there are many activities and tasty treats. Some things you see are lots of cold people,  cancan girls, contests for all ages, games and la tier (A syrup poured on clean snow and put on a Popsicle stick. So good!)  There`s one more thing I love about the north is at Rendezvous there is a person who goes around in a truck with a jail cell in the cab and if you don`t have a garter on then you get put in the cell and driven around.

The North

The best thing about the north is that we can go snowboarding at Mt.Sima. It hasn't been open for a long time but it might open soon. There is this hill that I can go snowboarding at which  has a big rail on it.

Another thing I like doing is to go ski-dooing. Last year I got a new ski-doo. I think I only got stuck 2 or 3 times all winter.

I also enjoy dirt biking at the dirt bike track in the summer. I like biking the most because I am really good at it and there are a lot of places to go biking.

I hope you guys have a good time here.

The North

The best thing about the north is that we get lots of snow . I like the snow because we can snowboard,  play hockey, slide, and snow soccer.  Some other things that I like about the winter are tackle football and snow fights. The animals that we have in the winter are caribou, porcupine, ravens, magpies, wolves,  and foxes . The animals that we get in the summer are bears, beavers, moose, coyotes, frogs, salmon, trout, grayling, and dollies.

the best thing about living in the north

I think the best thing about living in the north is that you can hunt for moose and caribou. We have a lot of snow. we can go sledding a lot and we can go skidooing.

We have bush planes and we can go hiking. After we hunt moose and caribou, we eat them. During the summer we can go to fish camp. While we are there, we learn how to catch fish in a fish net and how to cut a fish.

We play a lot of sports and I love to play basketball.
