About this site

This is the Technology Assisted Learning (TAL) Weblog. TAL is apart of the Curriculum Branch of the Yukon Department of Education.  We provide resources and support to Yukon teachers integrating technology into their classrooms.
 
Here you will find news, information and ICT resources of interest to Yukon educators. We also provide a RSS feed from a variety of other educational blogs.

Site Features

1. Postings

There are two kinds of postings:

paper:
News
ICT News and Views for Yukon Teachers
resource: ResourcesICT Resources for Yukon Teachers

Postings appear both on the Home page (in reverse chronological order) and in their Department page (TAL News & Resources). Posts can also be viewed by clicking on dates on the Archive calendar located on the Home page.

Clicking on the title of any post will take you the web site the post is about.

2. Membership

Visitors to the TAL Weblog have the option to join the site by using the Join Now link located in the membership section.

You need a valid email address to join. The information collected is stored within a protected database and is not located anywhere on the site itself. Members can change thier information at any time by logging in and using the Edit link located in the membership section.

Members can participate in the Discussion Group and have the option of receiving postings through an email bulletin

3. RSS & XML

Another way to access the information on this weblog is through our RSS feed.

RSS, which stands for either 'Rich Site Summary' or 'Really Simple Syndication', is a way of keeping up-to-date on new postings on your favorite web sites, news pages, or web logs, without having to travel to each one separately. People use an RSS aggregator to open the XML files from these sites. To see the XML file for this web site click on the small XML button below the navigation area.

Using a service like Bloglines, you can enter the URL for the TAL Weblog XML file and start receiving the our postings via RSS.

Manila has its own RSS aggregator. To read the feeds that the TAL Weblog is collecting visit  our RSS section.

5. Search

TAL Weblog is searchable from the Search TAL Weblog page. You can also expand your search to the entire internet by toggling the WWW below the search box.
