From March 1st to March 11, I participated in the Arctic Winter
Games. They were held in the Kenai Peninsula area. I was in
curling. It was fun. On my team there was: Chelsea (skip),
Sarah (third), Kelly (second) and me (lead). We came in fourth
place and there were five teams.
We stayed at Soldatna High School and we slept in bunk beds. The
opening and closing ceremonies were really awesome! There were
dancers, singers, people that spoke about how great it was to have
these games in Alaska and best of all, while walking in, we were
projected onto these huge screens! It was so much fun!
The next day, the curlers (there was around forty of us) were bussed to
Homer. It was a two hour bus ride! We would spend two hours
on the bus there, curl, have supper and take a two hour bus ride back
to Soldatna. We saw the Augustine volcano that was puffing away
in the sunlight! They had changed a hockey arena into a curling
rink! The curling/hockey rink was on the spit. Homer never had
even heard of the game of curling, so you could see why they didn’t have a
rink. They even asked the head official if they needed skaters to
take messages back and forth between ends! Silly!
The first couple of days, you can’t guess what they were feeding
us. It was mostly stuff that I couldn’t even name! It
tasted like plastic! We had to walk for ten minutes before we
came to the school with food. That’s when we decided we weren’t
coming back. Then they started bringing out fresh fish from the
ocean but we didn’t know because we didn’t come back. The people
in Homer started to open up their fridges to us and brought : lasagna,
sandwiches, spaghetti, pizza, lots of fruit and a couple
desserts. It was delicious.

When I was in Grade
1, my family went to Disney World. I had so much fun! My Nana came
along too! Since it was Christmas, all the characters were in red and
green costumes.
We
went to every kingdom! To Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Cinderella’s
Castle. My favorite thing in every one of the kingdoms was the
interactive movies. There was people that threw pies and mice ran
around your feet. Also I went to “Honey I shrunk the kids” and it was
the best! You actually felt like you were shrinking! I don’t know how
they did it.
I also went on a
ride that takes you through a mountain. You’re inside these little
logs, three people per log. At the end, you go down a waterfall into a
pile of thorns! Before you fall, you are in total darkness. Then you
see a little bit of light, and right before you fall, they take your
picture!
There is one more
ride that is lots of fun! There is about ten people in a raft, and you
go down the river, through a forest of burning trees! Then you fall
down a bit of rapids and whoever has his or her back to the rapids gets the
wettest! Each time that I went on this ride, I never had my back to the rapids! I never got really wet.
